2025-26 Men's Tennis

I mentioned in the General chat, that our Men’s Tennis program often isn’t discussed much, so I figured I’d give a brief update for those who might be curious as to how they’re doing this fall.

Head Coach Thomas Sevel and our Men’s Tennis program seem to be off to a solid start this year. They won 23 matches (6 in doubles, 17 in singles) in the Youngsville Invite against USM, Tulane, and Tyler JC. Then, they won 16 matches (7 in doubles, 9 in singles) at the Southern Miss Invitational against South Alabama, Jackson State, and USM.

They’ll be heading to Auburn this Thursday for the Battle of the Plains. This event will feature 15 teams including ours and will likely be a bigger challenge than what we’ve faced all year. I’m curious to see how that pans out.

This year’s roster is composed of 0 freshman, 3 sophomores, 5 juniors, and 1 senior. The team lost Vasil Dimitrov, Calin Postea, and Oriol Fillat Gimenez from last season, but thankfully it doesn’t look like any others left.

What are y’all’s thoughts on this? Do you think we improve from last year, when we went 10-12 in spring play?
