Nico Yantko is doing impressive things at Murray State University to keep them nationally relevant. He’s now introduced a new Racers Sports and Entertainment Village, a vibrant live, play, work, and cheer destination to serve the campus, community, and visitors year round that will fuel economic growth. This sounds like a man who has vision and knows how to get it done. I hope our UL President will make a bold move for Nico to return to Louisiana and grow our athletics and brand. I’d invest in this:

Need a few more hotels and an entertainment district all across and around Cajun Field. The one hotel we have stays booked especially when the away team takes up all the rooms. Then they jack up the price for the remaining rooms to $250-$300 a night. We need to be able to have fans from out of town able to park at their hotel, walk around eat and drink, go to the game, then walk back to their hotel safely to have a place to stay. Make a whole weekend out of it. We do not have this currently with only one hotel even close to the Athletic complex.
HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!! Again another reason why out of town folks don’t go to games. You wanna be able to drink, eat, go to the game, and drink in the game and walk back to a place to sleep.
more hotels and entertainment are definitely needed, not just for UL athletics but for tourism as well. The Cajundome has the ability to hold conferences for companies, educational groups, etc. A complaint I hear about coming to Lafayette for a conference is that there not enough places to stay close to the Cajundome. Having an entertainment district around Cajun Field would help bring these conferences in.
I’ve been on multiple roadtrips over the years. Staying next to the stadium has never been a priority for me & the Mrs. and our friends. We typically make long weekend of the game and find best option for total trip
Just 1 opinion for what it’s worth. Cant imagine I’m in the minority.
