Anyone attend or have any updates?

Who cares? It’s practice

Are you new here? Practice is what it’s all about. Ask our football coach.

Respectfully, I disagree. Our baseball and softball programs have some of the most dedicated fans out of all of our sports. For some, seeing our team play in the fall gives them a glimpse of what to expect during the season, and that can either build or break optimism for those said fans. So to me (and many others), it’s more than just a practice, it’s a preview of what to expect, and that can be important.

Last I saw was Rice up 6-4 in around the 6th. They were playing 14 innings. Haven’t heard anything else.

No the first out of conference games are our practice! Then it’s a brand new season 0-0 when conference starts.

Im hoping we have some water hose drinking dogs this year

We lost both games. Boys played well and think coaches learned a lot about players roles.

Game 1:

Had a few nerves in the first inning. A barely missed bang bang double play set Rice up with four runs in the first. Otherwise we outplayed them for remaining 6.

Game 2:

Tight game, 5-5, going into bottom of seventh. Rice scored game winning run in bottom of 7.

Just to add some information and highlights…

Game 1 starting defensive lineup:

C Torres

1B Amedee

2B Markle

SS Donatto

3B Hernandez

LF Collins

CF Hebert

RF Lasalle

DH Spalitta

P Tollett

Not sure who all else pitched game 1, but I’m pretty sure each pitcher seen an inning.

Spalitta had a solo shot to right center, and Rigo Hernandez also had a home run.

Mark Collins had a double, and Rigo Hernandez added an RBI.

Jose Torres also had an RBI.

Game 2 starting lineup:

3B Galt

SS Rodriguez

2B Lim

1B Flanagan

LF Bellard

CF Lewis

RF Lacava

C Brown

P Brasch

After Brasch, Garrett Carter, Bryce Wilson, Cowan Alfonso, Hayden Pearson, and Kyrin Leblanc all got an inning of work. Hayden Pearson and Bryce Wilson looked really good to me.

Trip Dobson had two doubles on the day.

Owen Galt had a solo shot off the old scoreboard.

Colt Brown banged a triple off the wall in right-center.

Noah Lewis had a double down the left field line. He may have had two doubles, memory is fuzzy.

Owen Galt had a chance to walk it off in the bottom of the 7th, and flew out to the deepest part of the field on the warning track.
